About John

John Waters is an Australian spiritual teacher and counsellor offering guidance for those who wish to awaken to the silent Presence.

Whether you practice yoga, a religion or an esoteric path, John has the depth of experience, wisdom and psychological insight to support your unique journey.

John had a series of awakenings in India through Ramana Maharshi’s tradition between 2016-18 and then felt the need to integrate all that he had been through in his explorations.

He was able to do that with the guidance of spiritual teacher, Leonard Jacobson. His time with Leonard brought about a fundamental awakening and since then John has been enjoying the Silence.

For over 30 years John has offered counselling and groups sessions that focus on both healing and awakening.

John Approach

John brings wisdom and humour to his guidance and counselling.

He introduces awareness techniques that help to quieten the mind and manage the ego. John also offers insights about how to deepen in Presence in day to day life.

The Presence-based therapies including meditation, relaxation and visualisation techniques, that he teaches can equip you with the skill to calm a distracted or reactive state of mind.

When the mind is focused on tangible sights, sounds, and other natural impressions, the surface activity of the mind quietens.

It is during these experiences of stillness that you can gain a deeper understanding of your true self and the instacles to your growth.

John’s approach focuses on the integrated healing of the mind, body and spirit that leads to wholeness and awakening.

More Background

John formed the Path Centre in 2004 to offer practical guidance for people on the spiritual path. Around that time he had an inner vision about the nature of the spiritual path and it informed his approach to spiritual teaching and counselling.

He has had many jobs including zookeeper, foreign affairs clerk, baker, psychologist, lecturer and student. At age 19 his soul reawakened and he trained in classical yoga, joined a spiritual community and learned about the challenges of spiritual service.

After a 3 year program in psychotherapy in the early 90's John worked as a psychologist and counsellor in the tertiary education field. His role included psychological counselling, clinical supervision, organisational coaching, critical incident stress management and mediation. John also conducted meditation programs for students and staff and once organised a series of meditation seminars by teachers from 12 different spiritual traditions.

John has practised yoga and esoteric disciplines for over 30 years and in this time has had the privilege of learning from a number of respected yogis, adepts and seers from both the east and west.

His main spiritual practice has been classical and spontaneous yoga and simply being present. John learnt about the art of seership and the Ageless Wisdom teachings from living and esoteric teachers within the Great White Brotherhood.

John has engaged in self-guided activities, undertaking shamanic journeys in Western Victoria, Northern Territory, the UK and France, as well as a personal yoga sadhana in Tiruvannamalai, India.

This unique training has given John a depth of experience that enables him to guide people from all walks of life on their journey of awakening.

Please feel free to contact John if you would like to arrange an individual session or attend a group activity.
